Bradley Brow had a vision of a place where men could get high end salon services in a cool, comfortable environment; a place more urban and cutting-edge (forgive the pun!) than his quiet Midwest hometown of Jackson, MI offered.
So he founded Dapper Man - Men's Hair & Grooming in 2017 with the assistance of his apprentice, Peter Huver. At Dapper Man, they aim to provide an all-around better haircut experience for their clients, encompassing everything from the environment to the haircut itself.
Bradley loves his city and is excited to play a small part in its downtown revitalization. His passion for the hair industry pushes him to continue educating not only himself, but his clients on how they can achieve their best hair and overall appearance too.

What’s the obstacle that you’ve overcome that you’re most proud of?
I think from the outset being from a relatively smaller town, an obstacle we had to overcome was proving the value of a good haircut. Since we offer a premium service, we charge a similar rate. A typical haircut service usually lasts between 30 min. and an hour depending on the amount of detail in a given style. We feel that the amount of time spent ensuring every detail is right justifies the now $30 price tag.

What do you know now that you wish you’d known then?
As a business owner, you are your biggest critic. I find myself obsessing over every detail of my business, from each social media post to the way that the salon smells. At the end of the day, if you do the main things right, people will notice. Don’t take yourself too seriously.
What’s your best advice to other small business owners?
Study giants in your field doing things well and find a way to either improve on or adopt those practices and provide them for your clientele.

What’s a typical day like for you?
My days are almost never typical. Although my schedule is the same every week, each day is a little different. Most mornings, I have my littles in the mornings before jetting out the door to get coffee and head into the shop. Those are my late days where I start at 12 and work until about 9 pm. My early days are Fridays and Saturdays. Those days I start at 9 am and finish around 6 pm. I have the privilege of getting paid to hang out with a lot of cool guys and get to style their hair in the mean time.
What’s next for you and Dapper Man?
In the future we plan to add a few more stylists to the shop and would love to relocate more centrally within Downtown Jackson. We are also entertaining the idea of adding further salon services like nail, facial, and waxing services
